Going Places with Itunu

Capetown, where Itunu found there was so much to do and so little time.

1.      Tell us about the very first holiday you remember.

Not so much a holiday but a long holiday at my granny’s house.  I remember going to my Granny’s in Bodija (Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria) with all my siblings and all my cousins, aunties and uncles. I was like five years old but I remember it because of the riot in the house and all the fun we had. I think it was one of the last times we were all together as a family in that house. My cousins and I thought we were a team of investigators and used to go climbing rocks and trees in the neighbours’ houses 🙂

2.      What has been your most memorable holiday?

Capetown. There was so much to do and so little time. I could not believe how beautiful the place was and the amount of things I did in the short time I was there.  I was very pleasantly surprised.

3.      What do you like most about vacations?

The fact that I get to run away from real life (I am serious). I think of it as an escape from whatever I am used to which is why I work on creating new experiences.

4.      What do you hate most about vacations?

The waiting time at airports, being ‘frisked’ at airports, the immigration queues at airports. In short, anything to do with the journey to the destination.

5.      How would you spend your perfect day on holiday?

Leaving my comfort zone for starters. Taking a jet to my destination to reduce the travel time will help.  Not having to shop for anyone (including myself as I really hate shopping). I get to go to other local tourist spots and I don’t have to look at my e-mails from work or think about anything from work and I get to sleep till noon without anyone breathing down my neck on why I should be up and about at an earlier time.

6.      Where would you most like to go on holiday?

The Bahamas Why? I just always wanted to go there when I was younger and the thought has kind of stuck.

Bio:     My name is Itunu and I work as an Environment Engineer/Manager in Lagos, Nigeria (sounds rare but this is true). I love choreography and drama and I still harbour dreams of having my own dance studio while trying to save the planet. I’m an avid book reader and used to write when I was much younger. I also harbour dreams of writing a book. If I can get it done on one of my holidays it will be perfect. Maybe that’s why I want to go to the Bahamas 🙂
