Picture of the month: Easter Island

I’ve always been fascinated with Moai.  The Moai are statues carved from stone and were made by the early settlers of Easter Island (or Rapa Nui).  The statues are huge (some over 30 feet tall) and the island that is their home, Easter Island, located over 3,000km from Chile is thought to be one of the most remote inhabited places to live in the world  This picture showing the Moai in their majesty serves to remind me why they are a source of fascination to me and many other travelers.

Have you ever seen the Moai or been to Easter Island?  Tell us in the comments!
